What is a major service?

A major service is a comprehensive maintenance service in which more checks are carried out and more parts are replaced than during a minor service. The goal is preventive: by performing timely maintenance, you prevent malfunctions, wear and expensive repairs.

When your car is due for minor or major maintenance is described in your car's service book or instruction manual. Usually minor and major services alternate. This way your car gets regular attention and everything stays in good condition.

Need a major or minor service?

Whether your car is due for a minor or major service depends on the mileage and time since the previous service. This differs per car brand and model. On average:

Minor service
Usually between 15,000 and 30,000 kilometers, or every year. This involves basic checks and replacement of engine oil and oil filter.

Major service
Usually between 30,000 and 60,000 kilometers, or every two years. This involves more extensive checks and replacement of more filters and fluids.

What do our mechanics do during a major service?

During a major service, we carry out a thorough inspection and replace more parts than during a minor service. Here's an overview of what happens:

Replace engine oil and filters

• Check and replace fuel filter if necessary
• Replace cabin filter (pollen filter)

Check and top up fluids

• Check brake fluid for level and quality, refresh if necessary

Visual inspection and check
